Apply for Visa on Arrival at designated immigration checkpoints; the fee is 2,000 THB. Thai Immigration Bureau requirements apply. Confirm the stay duration and whether your chosen checkpoint handles applications before travelling.
- Visa Free / Visa Exemption means no visa is needed, although arrival forms and information may still be required.
- Free Visa means a visa is required but its visa fee is waived.
- Visa on Arrival means applying for a visa on arrival; it is a separate category from visa exemption.
A Thailand visa exemption extension at an immigration office and a border run are different procedures. Under the general 30-day exemption scheme, you may apply for an extension of up to 30 days for a 1,900 THB fee, subject to immigration approval. Confirm eligibility for your passport and entry category before your permitted stay expires.
A Phuket border run means leaving Thailand and seeking re-entry: travel to Malaysia via Satun or Myanmar via Ranong. We help arrange the trip and border formalities. The immigration officer decides on entry and the new permitted stay, so every case is individual. Before the trip, message our manager — they'll check your specific situation, especially after repeated entries or land border crossings, and suggest the best option.
The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a separate visa allowing stays of up to 180 days per entry. It is a visa, and an ordinary border run without a valid DTV does not provide that entitlement. DTV holders should arrange their trip with our manager and check their status conditions beforehand.
To choose your route from Phuket, submit a request on the home page or contact our manager with your nationality, current entry category, stamp expiry date and entry history.
- Passport: the general 30-day exemption requires at least six months of validity from your entry date. Check requirements for your own category and the neighbouring country separately.
- TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card): complete a digital arrival card for the new entry within three days before arrival, including the arrival date. It is required for visa-exempt and DTV travel and is not a visa. Submission through the official immigration website is free.
- Prepare accommodation details, proof of a return or onward ticket and proof of funds: these are conditions of the general 30-day visa exemption.
- Check the permitted-stay date on your entry stamp and apply for an extension before it expires. Prepare TM.7, your passport, a photo, evidence of TM30 registration and the fee; confirm the document checklist with your local immigration office.
- Ranong is operating for nationalities listed on this page. The manager confirms every request, as the situation can change. Confirm entry into the neighbouring country and Thai re-entry conditions for your passport. The listed 14-day exemption for Myanmar nationals applies only at international airports.
- If your nationality is absent from these lists, check the appropriate visa in advance. Conditions for one entry category do not automatically apply to another.
For the general tourist exemption, TAT describes a limit of two land entries per calendar year, with exceptions for Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore. The embassy in Vienna describes the restriction for land and sea checkpoints.
Bilateral agreements and DTV
Do not automatically apply the general limit to bilateral exemption or DTV travel, or treat an exception as guaranteed admission. Share all previous entries, dates and categories with the manager. Officers assess documentation and travel purpose as well as entry counts.
Editorial check: 26 October 2026. The government PRD announcement confirms the September changes. The Moscow embassy covers Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Moldova. General extension information is provided by the Washington embassy. Check requirements again for your passport before travelling.
Next: TDAC instructions, Satun, Ranong and current fares. Contact the manager to discuss your situation.
